Teepees

To get into the Thanksgiving spirit, the second grade students created these teepees. We began by talking about Native American tribes that would have lived in teepees and why. We then discussed some Native American symbolism and what it stood for. Each student started with a tan piece of paper that they cut into teepee shape. They used special construction paper crayons to draw the symbols. Once all of the drawing was done, we crinkled up the paper so that the texture became more like the worn animal hide teepees are made of. We glued them down to a background and added some details as a finishing touch.
