Positive and Negative Space Pumpkins

3rd Grade_archive

The third graders made these pumpkins using positive and negative space.  We began by outlining half of a pumpkin on orange construction paper. We drew one eye, half of a nose, and half of a mouth.  When we cut them out, we kept every shape to create the other half of the face.  The orange pumpkin was glued on one half creating the positive side.  All of the orange pieces were glued on the other half to create the negative side. By combining the black and orange together, a whole jack-o-lantern was created. We used black and white colored pencil to add some finishing details.
