Molas

Traditionally crafted in Panama from layers and layers of fabric, the fourth grade students created these molas from black construction paper and construction paper crayons. Originating as a form of body painting, molas evolved into a means of clothing decoration as fabric became more readily available. They typically feature an animal as the central design, surrounded by geometric lines and shapes. The greater the detail, the finer the mola.
