The prekindergarten students began class by watching an animation of the book Two Can Toucan by David McKee. We talked about how toucans look different than any other birds, and the reasons why they have such big colorful beaks. We painted our own wings and beaks using tempera paint. While they dried, we added feathers and eyeballs to the bodies with construction paper crayons. Tails, made from each student’s hand print, are the finishing touch.
