The second graders made these shadow people. It was a tricky project, but they all turned out great. They started by deciding what activity they wanted their person to be doing. We talked about how the pose should reflect that activity. For the first class, they practiced drawing different poses using their classmates as models. Then, they drew their good copy. Once they had their person drawn and cut out, they traced it on to black paper. Once cut out, this acted as the shadow. The picked a background color and drew a line to separate the floor from the wall. The last step was to glue everything down.
