The first grade students used colorful paint and folded paper to create these flowers. We began class by reading Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert and talked about the way flowers grow (some from seeds, some from bulbs). Each student received a piece of paper, and folded it to create 4 “V” folds. Inside these folds, the students dabbed different paint colors, then folded the entire paper up and pressed gently. When opened, each fold resulted in the blossom of a flower. They then added stems, leaves, and grass.
