Monet Bridges

The students learned about French impressionist Claude Monet and the beautiful gardens surrounding his home.  We talked about how he loved to paint in his garden, and often included the bridges that spanned the many streams and ponds.  To create a similar effect, a bridge was cut from cardstock and taped to the background.  The students painted with strokes of color, then pulled the bridge off to reveal an unpainted area underneath.  They colored them turquoise to match the bridges in real life.  The final step was to place tiny kindergarten cutouts on top.
