This was our second attempt at making scratch art. After the first try didn’t turn out as expected, we gave it a second try with much better results. The first step was to color the entire paper in oil pastel. We used abstract designs and tried to cover the ENTIRE page. Next, we painted a layer of acrylic paint over the top. After the paint had dried, we spent the next class period “drawing” with toothpicks. The paint layer was easily scratched away leaving behind the colorful oil pastel below.
