Patriotic Prints

This is a very delayed Presidents Day post. The pre-kindergarten students made these patriotic prints.  We began by marbling paper using shaving cream and liquid watercolor.  Each student received a tray coated in a thin layer of shaving cream.  I went around and dropped blue liquid watercolor onto the shaving cream and had the students swirl the color around using a spoon.  They each placed a piece of white paper over their tray and gently applied pressure all over.  After pealing the paper off, I scraped away the excess shaving cream using a plastic ruler.  The marbled liquid watercolor is left behind.  While the pages dried, the students practiced stamping.  Then, they used red paint to stamp circles and stars onto their marbled paper.
