Winter Hats

Despite the relatively mild winter we’ve had, the second grade took inspiration from a few cold days to draw these winter hats. They began by outlining them in permanent marker, then added lots of patterns.  They filled them in with crayon and colored pencil and topped them off with fluffy pompoms.  To make the pompoms, I wrapped colorful yarn around each of their hands 20x. We slid it off and tied a knot down the middle to create a bow tie shape. The students snipped the loops on either side, then fluffed them up before we attached them.
