The 4K students made these igloos as part of a unit they had been working on in their classroom. We began by watching a short video on how to build an igloo, and talked about what it would be like to live somewhere very cold. We then watched a short video on the northern lights or “aurora borealis.” We looked at pictures, talked about what causes them, and the different colors they can be. For the backgrounds, we blended chalk pastels with our fingers on black paper to emulate northern lights. On a separate piece of white paper, we drew igloos in black marker and cut them out.
