For this project, the 4th grade students learned about figure drawing. We began by discussing proportions and how to draw the body as “sausage people.” Everything was drawn in elongated ovals with circles to act as the joints. This way, the student could focus on different poses, without getting caught up on facial expressions, fingers, etc. Each student started by dividing their paper into equal rectangles. Then, one at a time, they stood in front of the class and held a pose for 2 minutes. This was just long enough to get the poses down without over thinking it.
