Chinese New Year Dragon

All of the students worked together to help create our Chinese New Year dragon. His head is made from a large water jug, chicken wire, aluminum foil, plaster of paris, and paper mache. His body is also made of chicken wire and paper mache. The students created his scales by painting large coffee filters with tempera paint.  Once they had dried, the first grade students helped to “pomp” the filters into the chicken wire to fill out the body. He has spent a few weeks hanging outside of the art room. Soon, he will be moved into the library.
