The second grade students created these cave drawings. We began by watching a video on how scientist date these per-historic works of art and who they think made them. We then read Ghost Hands by T.A. Barron. It is a fictional story about a real cave located in Argentina. For our cave drawings, the tables in the art room were flipped on their sides and covered in brown butcher paper. The students sat on the floor and used chalk pastels to create a similar look to the cave drawings we learned about. The finished drawings are now hanging in the hall on the way to the business office. Come by and check them out!
