Psychedelic Snowflakes

Since we don’t get much winter weather here in Austin, the 5th grade students made these snowflakes in psychedelic colors instead of the usual white. We began by folding giant coffee filters a number of times and paper clipping them together. Once the layers were secure, we cut various shapes out of the wedges. From here, the students used tempera paint to “tie-dye” their snowflakes.
