The kindergarten students created cityscapes out of colored construction paper. We began by reading the book Noisy City Day by Sara Anderson. Each student received a large sheet of dark gray paper and chose different colored rectangles to make the first row of city buildings. Then, we added two more rows with smaller rectangles to give the illusion of depth. Once their buildings were in place, they added windows with colorful squares of paper. This step was a great way to practice glue skills. “Dot, dot, not a lot.” The finishing touch was to add stars in the sky with white crayon.
