The fourth grade students created these reflections in two steps. Step one was to paint the backgrounds. We used warm colors (red, yellow, orange, and pink) for sunset skies and cool colors (blues, greens, and purple) for the water. Then, they each received a thin piece of foam board and a ball point pen. We used the pens to draw cities into the foam, then cut out the skyline. Our last step was to roll a layer of black tempera paint onto the foam, then print it onto the water half of the background. By attaching the foam to the sky half, we achieved the look of a reflection.
