Turkey Hats

The kindergarten and first grade students made these silly turkey hats. Each student started with half of a paper plate to act as their turkey body. We cut shapes for the beaks and wattles (The red part that hangs under the beak. Which we learned, gets redder if the turkey gets angry) and glued them to the bodies. We also folded strips of paper back and forth to make legs that hang down on either side. We talked about how we could make paper feathers by cutting out feather shapes and snipping slits in the sides. Finally, we attached the feathers and added finishing touches with crayons and colored pencils.
