The third grade students have been learning about the the pilgrims, the Mayflower, and the first Thanksgiving. We wanted to draw pictures of the Mayflower that were accurate to how it looked during its voyage to America. To achieve this, we drew the ship step by step. Starting with the water and working our way up to the flags. We drew everything out in pencil. Once the boats were complete, the students traced over their lines in black marker. They had the option to color them in realistically or with fun fauvist-like colors, big waves, or shark infested waters.
