Symmetrical Bugs

1st Grade_archive

The 1st grade students made these bugs using symmetry. We began by folding our papers in half.  Using oil pastels, we drew the outline of half of a real or imaginary bug.  Then, we closed our papers up and rubbed them all over with the edge of a large popsicle stick. When we opened the paper up, the oil pastel design had been transferred in perfect symmetry.  After tracing over the lines, we filled everything in with tempera paint.
